Chupinazo, giants and big heads and emotion with the proclamation to start six days of festivities in Vera
The residents of Vera are already immersed in their traditional festivities in honour of their patron saint San Cleofás. This Tuesday afternoon the desire to enjoy six days of joy and devotion was palpable during the celebration of the first of the many events organised for these dates such as the parade of Giants and Big Heads which has once again brought together hundreds of people during the parade that has lasted for an hour through the main streets of the town accompanied by the Municipal Band.
Then came the time for the official opening of the fair at 8:00 p.m. with the traditional chupinazo and the opening of the fairground ‘El Palmeral’ at 9:30 p.m. to host the emotional proclamation by the former director of CEIP Cuatro Caños, Marita Pérez Redondo and the gala for the election of the Queens and Ladies.
This Wednesday, the town’s big day, coinciding with the feast of the patron saint San Cleofás. The midday fair will open at 1:00 p.m. in the fairgrounds where Children’s Day will also be celebrated, in which the little ones will enjoy the attractions at reduced prices and open uninterruptedly from 1:00 p.m., remaining quiet and with fixed lighting from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., which will especially benefit people with auditory and visual hypersensitivity as well as children with autism spectrum disorder.
The liturgical activities will begin at 6:00 p.m., when Holy Mass will be celebrated in the Parish Church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación and then the solemn procession with the image of the patron saint. During the night, performances by local dance academies will take place.
Thursday 26th will be dedicated to the elderly with the traditional breakfast at the Churrería Chispa, followed by the traditional Corrida de Cintas and the Rebujitos concert during the night.
On Friday 27th, the main event will be the concert by David Civera that will take place after the traditional parade of floats, street parades and brass bands through the streets of the town. At night the party will continue with the Millenium orchestra.
On Saturday 28th, the day of the tourist will be celebrated with the delivery of carnations by the Queens and Maids of Honor to visitors and residents of Veracruz in the Plaza Mayor and the historic center.
On Sunday the fair will close with a great bullfight that will feature the bullfighters Emilio de Justo, David Galván and Fernando Adrián, with bulls from José Luis Marca. At night it will be the turn of the performance of the “Rondalla de Mayores” and “Sol y Luna”, ending with a dazzling fireworks display that will close the festivities.
