The Spanish proverb says that “febrerillo” is the craziest month and no wonder. It rains just as much as there is such a strong wind that, suddenly, the thermometers shoot up.

In recent days the maximum temperatures recorded in some municipalities of Almería are very high for the dates in which we are. Without going any further, this Monday, February 12, temperatures reached 30 degrees in some parts of the province.

Thus, according to the Southeast Meteorological Association (Ametse) network, in Rioja they reached 28.3 °C this Monday at 3:35 p.m. It was the maximum temperature of the day in the entire province. In fact, it is also the maxim of this entire network that includes the provinces of Almería, Murcia, Alicante, Valencia, Albacete, Granada and Jaén.

Other municipalities that have surpassed the 27 degree barrier are Pechina (27.7 °C at 3:55 p.m.), Benahadux (27.2 °C at 3:39 p.m.) and Huércal de Almería (27.2 °C at 15:00).

Among the hottest according to Amet
On the other hand, taking into account only the stations of the State Meteorological Agency (which has many fewer than Ametse), the third highest temperature in all of Andalusia was recorded in Puerto de Garrucha this Monday, with 25.4 °C. . They only surpass that record in Coín (Málaga) and Rincón de la Victoria (Málaga), with 25.5 degrees in both cases.

To this we must add that on Sunday, February 11, Aemet certified that El Ejido obtained the highest temperature in all of Andalusia within its network of stations. The thermometer reached 20.2 degrees.

Winds of more than 100 km/h
The wind has also been the protagonist in the last few hours. According to Ametse, gusts of more than 100 km/h have been recorded at two points in the station network:
122.8 km/h in Calar Alto (Gérgal)
107.6 km/h in La Romanilla (Roquetas de Mar)
