SIXT Spain arrives at AlmerĂa Airport with its premium car rental fleet - 01/11/2024

SIXT Spain, a subsidiary of the international mobility provider SIXT, is taking a new step in its expansion with the opening of its first car rental office at AlmerĂa Airport. From November 1, leisure and business travelers arriving in the Andalusian city will be able to start their rental experience with SIXT directly from the arrivals terminal.

This new location marks an important milestone in the expansion of the coverage of SIXT car rental services in southern Spain. "We are very pleased to extend our services to AlmerĂa, a region of great importance in our expansion strategy. With this new opening, we are strengthening our local network, giving our customers a new option to pick up and return their rental vehicle," said Corinna Moessner, Co-Vice President of SIXT Spain. In total, SIXT offers its premium rental services at 15 branches throughout Andalusia.

With this new location, customers will be able to enjoy SIXT's premium fleet while discovering some of AlmerĂa's most iconic landmarks, making visits to places like the stunning Cabo de Gata Natural Park, the stunning beaches of the AlmerĂa coast or the historic Alcazaba even more memorable.

Almería is a highly relevant region in our expansion strategy”
— Corinna Moessner - Co-Vice President

Customers will be able to pick up their vehicle conveniently from the arrivals terminal and enjoy a service available 365 days a year, from 08:00 to 23:00, including holidays. The extended hours guarantee maximum flexibility to adapt to the needs of travellers.

This new opening in Almería, together with that at San Sebastián Airport and the transfer of several offices to areas within the terminal at the airports of Menorca, Lanzarote and Tenerife North, is the result of SIXT's success in the recent bidding process carried out by AENA in 2024. This result allows the company to increase its presence in more airports, ensuring better locations and more space for parking its vehicles.

No more 100ml limit? - 04/03/2024

Spanish airport operator, Aena, is changing the restrictions on liquids in cabin baggage thanks to the installation of new 3D X-ray scanners. This measure will allow liquids to be kept inside hand baggage without having to be removed at security checkpoints.

The first trials in Spain will be carried out at Barajas airport in Madrid and El Prat in Barcelona which together account for 40 percent of all passenger traffic in Spain. The technology will then be rolled out to other airports in the country, including Málaga-Costa de Sol, hopefully as early as the end of 2024. In total, Aena is investing €1.17 billion in security and baggage screening.
